NOTE REGARDING EMAILS

Because our email address is on public display and freely available to all, we, like many organisations, suffer from a large amount of spam.  We try to filter our receipts, but it is an in-disputable fact that many genuine mails will slip through into our junk box. Where there is an attachment and/or included graphics, it is very likely that these emails will NOT be opened, unless we know in advance that this is from a trusted source, so please note our long standing request, repeated below and updated  - - - -

If there is a clear need for an attachment and/or included pictures/graphics, please let us know in advance using only plain text, so that we can look out for it. However, we do not anticipate difficulties for our regular contacts, as we will already have those listed in our address book.

We tender our apologies for these inconveniences.

MUCH OF THIS SMALL PRINT WILL NOW BE IRRELEVANT, BUT IT REMAINS FOR REFERENCE

Our aim is to keep information on this site simple and informative, mainly about SJF.  Inevitably, we have quiet periods between festivals, and we do not want to stagnate, so we try to include appropriate brief items of news about the jazz and music scene local to Southwold, also in the wider Anglia area.

(Note: At this current time we are of course in ‘becalmed waters’, not having a venue at which to present a festival.   We had been focused on the possibility that this will eventually change, but that is now sadly not going to happen)

Please let us know of any item to be considered for publication, where this may be relevant to the interest of our supporters. We may have to carry out minor editing to submissions.  Also, we reserve our right to refuse to link to, or publish, in whole or in part, anything which we consider too controversial or inappropriate.  In any case of dispute, the decision of the Southwold Jazz Festival Steering Group shall be final.

Your views are important to us so if there is anything else you would like to mention, please do so, especially if you spot any glaring errors on our web site, in which case Neil would like to know.  As regards accuracy, we endeavour to check information we are given as soon as possible, but amendments and new information cannot always be posted on our site immediately.  We aim to update, on average, at least every two to three weeks. In practice, we may in fact update much more often.

There are many organisations and individuals who support our efforts, and who actively distribute or allow us to post SJF literature in and around their premises, or use other methods such as web publicity and/or links.  This all helps enormously, as we do not seek to make any personal profit from this venture, and therefore have a limited budget for such activities.  We would be only too pleased to return these favours by giving these friends a mention on this site, which is visited regularly and frequently.  If we have overlooked you, please get in touch so we can rectify this.  But, please bear in mind that, although it is unlikely, it may be necessary, in very rare circumstances, to move, abbreviate or temporarily delete external publicity items if we need the room for SJF.  Any appropriate information would however be reinstated as soon as possible, and probably endure, updated as and when needed, for the greater part of the year.

There are NOT currently any charges for publication of submitted information. We post it purely in the interests of the promotion of jazz and other cultural matters, so please respect our aims in these matters. We DO however appreciate a return mention or link to our web site, should this be possible.

We do not knowingly infringe copyright. All content on our own pages is either our own work or has been supplied to us for our use. Where we provide a link to other web sites, copyright as applicable to text, dialogue, graphics, video and audio is a matter for the owners and/or administrators of  those sites.

Any item not covered by the above provisos will normally have an attached acknowledgement or comment.

As we are regrettably now in the stages of closing down the SJF project, much of the ‘small print’ on the lower part of this page is irrelevant. It is retained for reference and those minor items which may still apply.
